Utipro Plus AF is a Medical Device for the treatment of cystitis or lower uncomplicated urinary tract infections. It should be taken from the first signs of symptoms which can include a burning sensation during urination, frequent and urgent urination and pain in the lower abdomen. If symptoms do not improve after 48 hours after taking Utipro Plus AF, consult a doctor as antibiotic treatment may be required.
More severe symptoms such as flank pain (back or side pain), fever or nausea and vomiting indicate that the infection has progressed to the kidneys which requires medical attention and immediate treatment with antibiotics.
This product is not a substitute for antibiotic treatment, however, Utipro Plus AF can be taken in combination with antibiotics.
To prevent UTI recurrence, Utipro Plus AF can be used long term for 15 consecutive days each month.
Utipro Plus AF should be taken from the first signs of symptoms of an infection, regardless of where you are on the cycle. After 5 days of treatment with 2 capsules a day, start the cycle again and continue to take 1 capsule a day for 15 consecutive days.
Utipro Plus AF can be taken in combination with antibiotics.
Treatment (uncomplicated lower UTI)
2 capsules per day, for 5 days, taken every 12 hours.
Prevention (uncomplicated lower and upper UTIs)
1 capsule per day for 15 days, followed by a 15-day break. Treatment can be repeated in cycles.
Utipro Plus AF can be taken long-term and can be repeated in cycles as required. Clinical experience from patients in Europe, where the product has been present since 2014, shows good effect with long-term treatment to prevent recurrence of urinary tract infections.
Long-term treatments for up to 9 months have been done without known side effects.
Should you get an acute urinary tract infection during dosing according to preventive treatment (1 capsule a day) you should return to the dosing for treatment (2 capsules a day for 5 days).
In addition, one should be observant of whether symptoms such as fever, back pain nausea & vomiting occur which would indicate a kidney infection. In this case consult a doctor for further investigation and antibiotic treatment.
E.coli is a coliform bacterium that occurs in the intestine where it makes up a large proportion of the natural intestinal flora. If the bacterium migrates from the intestine to the bladder, it can cause infections in the urinary tract.
In the bladder, hibiscus and propolis act by reducing the pH value of the urine in the bladder (mild acidification), creating an unfavourable environment for the bacteria to grow. This helps to clear the infection and improve the symptoms of a lower UTI.

The capsule can be taken with or without food. Efficacy is not affected by food intake.
It is possible to break the capsule in the middle and empty out the contents, which is a powder. To make it easier to swallow the powder, we recommend mixing it with yoghurt or in a drink with a thicker consistency. The powder on its own can have a strong smell and taste.

There is no danger in taking Utipro Plus AF if you have multiple sclerosis or other chronic diseases. Even those with impaired kidney function can take it. If you are hypersensitive to any of the product’s ingredients: xyloglucan, gelose, propolis or hibiscus, do not take Utipro Plus AF. The product does not contain lactose or gluten.
